The Locally Enlisted Personnel (SIngapore)

In 1st Decemebr 1971, an Installations Auxiliary Police Force was formed under the Singapore Police Force Act had begun policing within areas occuipied by British, Austrlian and New Zealand forces. The new force of about 300 was mainly formed by the disbanded Naval Base Police which guarded the former British base in Singapore.

On 22nd Febuary 1971, the British army issued a special philatelic cover to mark the disbandment of the last locally enlisted personnel of Singaporeans and Malaysians with the British Army. The cover was designed by Captain Noel Muddiman of the 32 Regiment and Cpl Tony Cleary of 18 Signals Regiment who did the artwork. the proceeds from the sale of the covers went to the benevolent fund to help out retired soldiers with financial difficulties.
